As the successor to the storied M3 coupe, the BMW M4 had big shoes to fill when it debuted four years ago. Since then, this two-door has come into its own, and now has a modest mid-cycle refresh to show for it. But since this update only changed the details, one thing is clear—there’s nothing worth fixing with the beast that is the M4.
Aside from getting a new turbocharged inline-six last year, the M4 still holds down 425 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Good for 0-60 times under four seconds, this two-door is already blisteringly fast. It can be made faster, too, with a Competition package bringing the ponies up to 444, or the limited-edition CS with 454 horses. But whether you “pony up” or not, you’ll have a lot of fun horsing around in the new M4. A mix of rear wheel drive, plenty of road feedback and precise steering are the stuff of dreams, and they come in every version.
The M4 is one of those cars that has to be experienced from behind the wheel, and for that, skipping a test drive just won’t do. Instead, drop us a line at our BMW dealership in Seaside, CA and schedule one.
