The 6 Series will leave next year, but its successor will be even better. To get us ready, BMW has unveiled the Concept 8 Series coupe—a flagship two-door based on the 7 Series. But while most prototypes in this nature have stylistic cues that won’t make it to production, the Bavarian automaker assures us that its looks will carry over.
That’s a good thing, too, because the Concept 8 Series is stunningly imagined. Crisp character lines, a tapered roof, and unique treatments to BMW trademarks like the double-kidney grille and headlights evoke a sporty elegance that we haven’t seen from the automaker. When unveiled in production form, we’re told it will house a potent V12 engine, with its M8 counterpart to house the M5’s biturbo V8. While its unveiling won’t happen until the autumn at the earliest, it gives us a great look at what to expect.
